Would you like a second blue bin?

by aldc on 19 December, 2015

Some peoplehave complained to councillors that if you have two black bins the Council has or will be taking one away. When we asked them why they are doing this their answer was as follows.

The Council is committed to recycling, and reducing rubbish. It is therefore Council policy to ONLY empty ONE black rubbish bin per property.

We appreciate large households may have a need for another black bin, so in some cases a 2nd black bin will be considered. This is done by application and assessment. Please either email us and the form will be emailed to you, or call us to complete the application over the phone.

A visit may be arranged before your application can be agreed.

To apply, contact: Damon Glover, Damon.glover@cambridge.gov.uk 01223 457979

If we do not hear from you before your next collection, we will assume you do not need the extra black bin(s) and they may be removed if put out on bin collection days.”

DID YOU KNOW you can now recycle more plastics in your blue bin; plastic food trays, pots, tubs, and now plastic bags and wrapping. This will free up space in your black bin for items that cannot be recycled.

Most households don’t need to have more than one black bin, but you may need more blue bins for your recycling – if you would like an extra blue bin, (they are free of charge), please use the online form at www.cambridge.gov.uk in the apply or request section, under ‘request a new or replacement bin’ to order.

The direct link is for a extra blue bin is: https://forms.cambridge.gov.uk/SelfServe/ServicePage.aspx?servicePath=&JScript=1

A van drops them off daily throughout the city!
