Thank you to all those who voted for the Liberal Democrats in last week’s bumper set of elections.

County Council election

Liberal Democrat Alex Beckett was elected as the new county councillor for Queen Edith’s, polling 1,355 votes. Labour came second, with the Conservatives and Greens in third and fourth place respectively. Across the County, the Liberal Democrats took several seats from the Conservatives, leaving no party in overall control.

City Council election

Lib Dems Jenny Page-Croft and Daniel Lee were elected, and also Sam Davies, who stood as an Independent. The City Council remains in Labour control, with the Liberal Democrats the main opposition party.

Mayoralty

Conservative James Palmer lost the mayoral election, and the new Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough is Labour’s Nik Johnson, who won in the second round when second preference votes were counted.

Police

Darryl Preston won this election and is the new Police and Commissioner for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
