The next national census will take place this year; forms start going out in March. The Census Area Manager for Cambridge and South Cambs will be coming to tell people about it at the area meeting at Homerton College on the 12th January.
The census asks 40+ questions covering employment, nationality, religion, language, marital status, health, ethnicity and home ownership. The results are used for government planning and the figures on population number have a direct link to council funding. It is compulsory: every householder will be legally required to complete a census, with the threat of a fine of up to £1,000 for non-compliance.

There is an opportunity for anyone to ask councillors questions or make a statement to them at the beginning of the meeting. If you can’t attend, but would like to raise an issue or comment on any of the items on the agenda, please let one of your councillors know. Start off a debate on here if you wish.
It would also be good to hear of any events in Queen Edith’s, Trumpington and Cherry Hinton so they can be announced to those present – and mentioned on our websites.
