Awesomely Autumnal

by aldc on 6 October, 2012

Wulfstan Way showed it was a street for all seasons today at the Area Autumn Event. The trees were looking wonderful with different shades of green and brown and gold, and the sun was shining – as it so rarely did last summer.

Foodies were well served, with various stalls:

  • organic vegetables – squashes in gorgeous autumnal hues – a feast for the eyes as well as the mouth
  • samples of ‘real bread’ from Peter of Loaf for Life
  • pizza and snacks with Caroline from Cambridge City Council Community Development
  • a culinary challenge for children, identifying foodstuffs from their feel, with Richard of Kiddy Cook

There were other things to take home too:

  • an eclectic Take it or Leave it stall with Queen Edith’s Recycling Champion – like a Bring & Buy but without the money
  • seasonal plants for sale, and beribboned lavender sprigs for your autumn wardrobe
  • Phoenix cards from Kit, to take care of the next season (Christmas!)

Over the road at the Queen Edith Chapel there was a chance to gen up on all the latest local projects:

  • the Diamond Jubilee Art Project, soon to be installed outside the shops
  • the Bell School plans
  • new designs for the closed Queen Edith Public House site, a mixed development of housing and community pub, to be submitted soon

For photos of various stalls, see here.

Thank you and well done to everyone else who made this such an enjoyable and interesting event, especially to Caroline Biggs from the City Council, who brought it all together.

We look forward to the next Wulfstan Way event, Christmas Lights on 11th December. Check this website for updates, or see the Queen Edith’s Facebook page.
